Midsized Biotech Alliance of America Launches
Coalition of Innovative Companies to Champion U.S. Innovation, Jobs, and Cures

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A coalition of leading midsized biopharmaceutical companies today announced the launch of the Midsized Biotech Alliance of America (MBAA), a new national organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the backbone of America’s biotech innovation economy.

Representing the driving force of American biotechnology, innovative biopharmaceutical companies, MBAA members fuel U.S. jobs, research, and cures that define the future of life sciences. Collectively, MBAA member companies employ more than 12,000 high-skill workers, invest over $7 billion annually in U.S. research and development, and are advancing nearly 100 drug candidates across key therapeutic areas including oncology, neuroscience, metabolic, and cardiovascular disease.

“Midsized biotechs are the heart of American innovation, taking bold scientific risks, creating high-wage U.S. jobs, and bringing life-changing treatments to patients,” said Alanna Temme, Spokesperson for the Midsized Biotech Alliance of America. “But these companies operate at a critical stage of growth where the wrong policy decisions could halt progress in its tracks. MBAA was created to ensure that policymakers understand what’s at stake and to advocate for solutions that sustain both affordability and innovation.”

MBAA was founded to represent and protect this essential yet vulnerable segment of the U.S. life sciences ecosystem. 

MBAA’s founding members collectively represent more than $14 billion in U.S. revenue and $48 billion in domestic R&D investment over the last decade. Nearly half of all employees in MBAA companies work directly in research and development, underscoring the Alliance’s focus on sustaining domestic innovation, high-skill employment, and global competitiveness.
